‘Bunter leads Yatton into 4th Semi Final’

Both sides traded penalty conversions within the first 10 minutes.

Tor’s pack pressure was absorbed by the visitors defence frequently for the next quarter hour but the more mobile Yatton in the guise of Dave Keating jinxed to under the posts and converted his own try.

It was then the homesides turn to take on pressure within their 22 area. Yatton making hard work and eventually rewarding themselves with a Keating drop goal.

Minutes before halftime Tom Jackson broke through beneath the posts for Yatton and Keating added the extras. Tor who currently lead the Somerset Premier division were beginning to realise the gap in skills between them and a Western Counties (North) side.

But not to be overwhelmed Tor came out fighting in the opening stages off the second half.

It took Captain Matt ‘Bunter’ Johnston’s bullock like charge through Tors defensive line to ease the score to 3-25.

With Keatings accuracy in kicking frequently turning Yattons defence into an attacking lineout, homeside hands and fingers were feeling that much colder for it.

At 70 minutes Jacksons second try was always on the cards and Keatings conversion inevitable.

But again the young bloods of Tor never gave up and presented their ardent supporters with a try and conversion in the dying minutes.

Bunter Johnston lead his side off the pitch and into the Semi Finals of the Somerset Cup for the fourth consecutive year running
