YATTON RFC
Yatton 3rd’s 7
Barton Hill 3rd’s 29
This was essentially a clash between youth and experience and on the day, it was youth who won handsomely.
Barton
Hill were fielding a youthful side with just enough older heads to keep things
well organised and it was from the start of the match, playing with a strong
win din their favour that they took control.
Within
the first ten minutes the Barton pack was taking control and using the ball
intelligently, the first try coming from a good threequarter move.
With
the Yatton pack unable to obtain or keep possession, especially form the line
out, the Baton Hill eight continued to pressure and their second score came
from winning a loose ball on the Yatton line. Another try came after from another
strong forward drive.
It
was the turn of the quick Hill backs to get a try from wide out just before
half time.
Yatton
3rd’s changed round potentially facing their biggest defeat for
several years, not helped by the strong wind moving around to nullify their
expected second half advantage.
However
pride and experience came to the fore and it was Yatton who were making the
attacking moves for long periods. A
clearance kick was gathered by wing Adam Noble who made excellent ground before
being caught, and the ensuing scrum went to Yatton with Scrum half Jonathan
Crew dummying and going over form close in.
Captain
Andy Williams added further points from an excellent conversion taken from far
out.
The
second half proved to be a much more even contest but Hill made the last
statement with their final try on the wing.
This
was undoubtedly the best third fifteen which Yatton had faced this season and
it bodes well for the future senior sides of Barton Hill.
