Yatton 18 pts Old Reds 12 pts
It's taken a while but Yatton finally rediscovered their bright early season form to ease home against their bottom-of-the-table visitors.
With little to choose between two well-matched packs the first half proceeded at pace with both sides playing open rugby. Yatton took the early honours and they went ahead when scrum half Anthony Harris crossed after the forwards, driven on by Spiller, had put the visitors' scrum under pressure. Sam Osbourne converted from in front of the posts and further pressure was rewarded when Nick Garnham led a kick-and-chase to win the race and touch down in the corner.
Two minutes into the second half Ricky Loftus capitalised on some less-than-assured defending to get the visitors on the scoreboard and with Hugh Murray tacking on the extra points the match was back in the balance. Sam Osbourne eased the tension with a penalty goal but as tempers began to fray a player from each side was sent packing to leave the closing stages contested by just 14 men a side. An unconverted try in the corner gave the Old Reds late hope but Yatton's jangling nerves were settled by a stoppage-time penalty goal.
